Anoka County's Parks & Recreation Committee approved three projects after receiving $1.81 million in grants.

The improvements include:

- Roadway & parking lot improvements at Rice Creek West Regional Trail
- A new restroom building at Lake George Regional Park
- Roadway & parking lot improvements at Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park

The Blaine Lions Club is hosting the Blaine Wellness Day on Saturday, September 11th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Blaine Medical Center. The day has events for everyone! A public park will be included in the Crescent Ponds single-family home development at Main & University in Coon Rapids. The parks amenities will include: trails, a play-structure, shelter, basketball half-court & more! The city council approves the idea but is waiting on the blessing of the commission before moving forward.

Kelley Farm, located on Highway 10, Elk River, will host a Paint the Farm event Sept. 4 and 6, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sept. 5, noon to 5 p.m. This event will exhibit nine local artists work. Anoka City has new rules for rental properties. Around 47% of Anoka's housing is rental property. Back in 2007 the city made rental licensing required and the new rules will be added to it including:

     
- Property owner notified of police calls after a second offense
- Third offense the property owner will receive notice by mails & will have to respond with a written plan.
- Fourth offense could lead to suspending the license for three months or more.
