Anoka is hopeful to sign a lease agreement with SkipperLiner Industries for a riverboat cruise operation. The boat "LaCrosse Queen" would be moved from its current location in Wisconsin. Plans are to have the boat dock near Anoka's City Hall and take passengers on a scenic tour of the Rum River to the Mississippi. The LaCrosse Queen is only one year old and a paddle-wheeler which are able to operate in the low water levels of the Rum River. No deals have been made but it's possible the riverboat could be up and running in the spring of 2009.
