Andover Recycling Day
The city of Andover is having it's annual Recycling Day at the Public Works today from 9am-3pm. Below is a list of items the city is accepting:
ANTIFREEZE: Accepted free please have no oil mixed in with it.
APPLIANCES: Most - $10 each; Air conditioners & water softeners - $20
BATTERIES: Accepted free. Lead acid car, boat and motorcycle The Knights of Columbus collect these batteries.
BICYCLES: Any condition. They are repaired and given away to those less fortunate. Parts that can’t be used, may be sold to offset costs.
ELECTRONICS: Monitors & TV’s up to 22” - $10; TV’s 19” to 30”, larger printers and stereos - $20. TV’s over 30” and consoles - $30 Other electronics and commercial - price dependant on size
FLOWER POTS: All plastic flower pots
FLUORESCENT LAMPS: 50¢ - 4’; 75¢ - 8’; 60¢ - compact ,O or U shape; $1.75 - broken; $4.45 - HID. Small business welcome, show identification to receive documentation of proper disposal. Be sure to store and transport carefully to prevent breakage. Do not tape together, they may break. Andover residents (no businesses) up to 5 free per household.
RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES: Accepted free
SCRAP METAL: All metals, but materials must be free from plastic, rubber, glass, concrete, tar, glue, wood and paper.
USEABLE HOUSEHOLD ITEMS: Books, clothing (clean, no rips or tears), cosmetics, games and toys, blankets, hardware and tools, kitchen utensils, knickknacks, shoes, purses, belts, hats, coats, small working appliances. Good clean furniture items. The furniture is collected by Anoka County Community Action Program (ACCAP)
TIRES: Passenger (w/wo rims) - $1; Semi-Truck tires - $6; Tractor tires 4/6/8 ply - $25; on rims - $35.
USED EYE GLASSES: The Andover Lions collects used eyeglasses to pass on to those who need them. This is an ongoing project.
