Possible School Closures for 2010
The Facility Use Task Force (FUTF)identified 17 Anoka-Hennepin schools that may possibly be closed due to budget & low enrollement.
The schools are:
Crooked Lake, Eisenhower, Franklin, Hoover, Lincoln, L.O. Jacob, Madison, Morris Bye, Sorteberg, University Avenue and Washington elementary schools, Peter Enich Kindergarten Center and Sandburg Middle School.
Hennepin County schools named as potentials for closure include Champlin Elementary School, Monroe Elementary School - Mathematics, Science and Children’s Engineering, Park View Early Childhood Center and Riverview Specialty School for Math and Environmental Science.
There will be two public meetings held before any final decisions are made.
• Wednesday, Sept. 16, 7 p.m., at Coon Rapids High School.
• Thursday, Sept. 17, 7 p.m., at Champlin Park High School.
Any school closures would be effective in the fall of 2010.
