There have been three recent vandalism incidents in the underpass, including broken security lights and spray painted graffiti on the Highway 47 pedestrian underpass.   The cost to replace the lights and clear the graffiti is roughly $1,200 and $1,500 each time it occurs.

 

Ramsey City Council has decided to be proactive. They approved a nearly $10,000 project which includes the addition of security cameras, other equipment and a contract with Qwest for the related Internet service connection.

The cameras will add security to individuals and hopefully deter more serious incidents.
