In today's market many buyers and sellers are checking into rent-to-buy or lease-options on homes. CNNMoney.com recently had a great article about the advantages and disadvantages of this option.

"NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- With buyers scarce and financing tight, some home sellers are offering rent-to-buy options to potential buyers. In fact, there's been enough of a spike in interest that ForSaleByOwner.com added it as a search option on the site, says spokesman Eric Mangan."

Netta Shores Street Project Approved

The City Council in Ham Lake has approved a contract with Dresel Contracting of Chisago City for the reconstruction of the streets in Netta Shores. They will aslo be improving the stormwater treatment system by adding a concrete curb and gutter. The water will flow into a new pond in Netta Shores Park.

First-Time Home Buyer Tax Credit

Home buyers can now apply the Federal Housing Administration's $8,000 tax credit when purchasing a home. FHA will now allow qualified home buyers use the tax credit to either make a larger down payment, cover closing costs, or buy down their interest rate. For further details click here!

 

Coon Rapids "Summer in the City"

Meet your neighbors and talk about neighborhood issues Wednesday, June 24th from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. at Rockslide Park. There will be ice cream treats, updates on reinvestment projects, a walk through the neighborhood with City Council, fire trucks, police cars, public works displays & a clean up event by ACE Solid Waste. The FREE clean up is from 5:00 - 6:30 pm. and is for trash items only. They will not be accepting: furniture, mattresses, yard waste, hazardous materials, tires, recycling, electronics, or appliances. You can contact the recycling Center at 763-785-6485 for disposal of those items.

Annual Block Training

The Coon Rapids Neighborhood Watch groups are having their annual block captain training on June 24th at 7pm at the Coon Rapids Civic Center (rooms A and B). The Police Department puts it on the discuss issues related to the neighborhood watch program. With a loss of state aid money the position of Crime Prevention Specialist was eliminated and the responsibilities were absorbed by four police officers. At this session they will discuss the new rental licensing ordinance, Night to Unite, resource guides, crime prevention supplies & more. The training session is also open to the public.

30th Annual Summerfest
